Suretotalk are private speech language therapists working with children and young adults who have difficulty with speech, language and communication. It’s great to be able to help children gain fluency and with it the confidence to reach their potential.

Most clients come to us through referrals - parents recommend us or teachers suggest to parents that we may be able to help their child.

We are fully qualified speech and language therapists and members of the NZSTA (NZ Speech Therapy Association). We are based in a private practice in Birkenhead on Auckland’s North Shore but also work in schools, preschools and homes. Our experience equips us to help your child with whatever speech or language challenge they’re facing. We have also worked in Ministry of Education clinics - the Language Unit and in the Special Education Unit that assists students with physical and learning difficulties. This depth of experience enables us to design highly effective therapy programmes specifically for your child.

Establishing a rapport with a child has a major impact on outcomes - we love working with children. In our home practice we have created a caring and nurturing environment. Children learn a lot through play, if they’re having fun and are relaxed, they tend to pick things up more quickly.

Most parents want to participate in their child’s treatment and we actively encourage this, as a child will make more rapid progress if there’s teamwork. Expect heaps of information and feedback and tools and tips to take away and use at home.

Not only has my son’s speech improved since starting speech therapy with Jocelyn, he is also now more confident and his concentration has improved!

She has worked in many settings including the Ministry of Education, Takapuna Language Unit, Special Education Units and in private practices. In 2012, Jocelyn founded her own practice, Suretotalk Speech Language Therapy, to offer therapy in a range of settings including schools, preschools, and a home-based clinic.

She enjoys all aspects of Speech and Language Therapy, and finds it incredibly satisfying working with children and young adults to improve their communication skills, and strengthen their confidence so they may reach their potential.

Following a comprehensive assessment, Jocelyn develops individualised therapy sessions for all her clients. Her experience enables her to establish a quick rapport, and this is a huge factor in the success of her therapy. She loves working with children and has made sure her home-based practice is a caring and nurturing environment. Much of Jocelyn's therapy is done through play and activities - if they’re having fun and are relaxed, they tend to pick things up quicker. Therapy is tailored around children’s areas of interest and lots of games are used to ensure our sessions are fun and enjoyable. Therapy is evidenced-based and uses such programmes as the Nuffield Programme for Dyspraxia, the Hanan Programme (for parents of children with language delays), and a variety of others.

While she is passionate about all aspects of speech and language therapy, Her particular interests are in:
•    Language delay
•    Language disorder
•    Global developmental delay
